8 Warblers

0520 - 0750 clear, bright, cool but warming

What a magic morning.....at the moment its hard to go anywhere on site without hearing Willow Warbler....amazing!!  Past few years the site has held a very disappointing 3 pairs breeding.....as per Chiffchaff they usually come in numbers then drift off....the Chiffs have already decreased in number having been here for a while...will the Willow Warblers follow suit....certainly hope not as this many on site over the summer would be stunning....

Talking of longevity...the wandering Cettis Warbler still goes on....its certainly staying and I hope by now its found an other half to make little Cettis with....its been on site now for around 6 weeks....the past few days has seen it start to wander along the north woodland area but seems more constant in its corner by the outcrop...

At least 7 Whitethroat on site now, probably more s not a full circuit done today....I was more interested in seeing if the two Nightingales were still present...but they aren't...its now 4 and probably 5...another great increase over night (though I thought I had a third yesterday, today it was singing like a goodun')...

3 Sedge Warblers were also singing....the Cuckoo had disappeared quite a long way north but still audible....Blackcaps singing still but no count....a Swallow flew over heading north west...

On the way back, passing warbler corner...bird of the day started singing...Lesser Whitethroat....fabulous.....ten minutes of searching and waiting was rewarded with good views of this smart little bird...

3 Mandarin Duck swam on the pits....2 males and a female....so at least 4 on site with 3 males the other day....
